For many years, Sunday night dinners at Grandma’s house where a way to wind down the weekend, be with friends and family and eat an amazing meal. I will never forget the smell of her bread she would make and let rise behind their wood burning fireplace, or the smell of the roast beef and pies she would make every Sunday. It was a great time to feel warm, content, loved and have a sense of belonging. In this day and age when everything seems to be so rushed, one of my favorite things to do is cook a good meal that makes the house smell delicious, and remind me of the days when life was not so hurried. Your tip of the day; be sure to take the time to cook good nutritious food and enjoy an afternoon at home with the scents coming from your kitchen. Alone or with friends and family, this is a great way to help bring us back to our roots!
One of my favorite Sunday night dinners is from Ina Garten’s “The Barefoot Contessa Cookbook” perfect roast chicken. I am cooking one right now as I write this. Enjoy this recipe to follow and check in tomorrow for your tip of the day!
If you are looking for a way to increase your creativity, memory or focus at work next week and for the year, then perhaps you should look at Learning Something New and start this weekend!
Research has shown that learning new things improves your gray matter in the brain. If you consider your brain to be just like any other muscle in the body, you will realize quickly that you have to use it or lose it! Think of your language lessons you may have taken as a child. Do you still remember what you learned 20 years ago? If you continued to practice you would, but if you didn’t practice… it is probably lost forever.
One sure-fire way to become a more effective learner is to simply keep learning. A 2004 Nature article reported that people who learned how to juggle increased the amount of gray matter in their occipital lobes, the area of the brain is associated with visual memory.1 when these individuals stopped practicing their new skill, this gray matter vanished.
So pick up a guitar, a new language, play the piano or do some brain twisters or whatever may suit your fancy. And getting a good night sleep is important for your brain as well.
On Tuesday Day 356 we suggested that you save $10.00 per day by calling 10 of your past clients and following up (read back three days on the blog and Facebook entries) We wanted to check in as today by the end of the day, if you had followed our suggestion you would have re-connected with 40 of your past clients. If you had asked each of them for a referral you realistically would have probably ended up with 20 new contacts. If you contact those 20 and your average closing rate is 15% you would have 3 new customers. If your average customer is worth $100, guess what your 10 calls per day for the last three days could have equated to an increase in sales of $300 over and above what you would do on a daily basis anyways! So our tip today – try something new, check in, measure, and record! Have a GREAT FRIDAY!
"Best wishes and Congratulations. Have a prosperous and good year."

Last week myself and a few associates were lucky enough to partake in a 90 Day Growth Club workshop put on by two Business coaches John Nieuwenburg and Andrew Orr. The day was jammed packed with information, advice and some great “BFO’s” as they labelled “Blinding Flash of the Obvious.” One of the things they talked about was Money Mastery… so while you practice your daily do’s to move you forward in your business, be sure you also have a strong grasp on your Money Mastery… here are some questions they posed to help you determine where you may need some work. This is so important to pinpoint at the beginning of your business, as many of these questions will help your goal setting become more clear and concise:
Make a commitment to yourself to call 10 of your past clients per day for 10 business days. Now find an accountability partner, and tell them that for each day you DON’T make your 10 calls per day, you will pay them $10.00.
See how a commitment to yourself for just 10 days can change the effectiveness of your business. Don’t be afraid! Sometimes you just have to commit and go for it. The Max you would lose is $100 but imagine what you could gain.
This weekend my 6 year old daughter told me a story that we should all take to heart. She has been practicing for months to do the monkey bars, practicing so hard that each day I pick her up she shows me how far she has come along, and then she shows me the broken calluses on her hands from never giving up. So last week her little friend who is also 6 says to her “Jaglin, you can do this; all you have to do is believe in yourself”. Hmm wise words from a six year old. My daughter this week has said she is going to continue to practice and BELIEVE that she will be able to make it across all the bars.
Monday Mornings Question to you then, Do You Believe In Yourself? If you don’t find someone that does believe in you and borrow their vision of yourself until you do.

BUILDING THE MAC - The Journey Is The Reward.
The title alone reminds us that regardless of our goal, we must enjoy the journey along the way. Remember today as you plan your week ahead as well as take a mental break, that you give yourself short term goals as well that need to be celebrated. One idea that we actually put into place this past week during a training session was to write down our quarterly goals and then write a letter to ourselves with those goals and what we will do if they are accomplished! The facilitator then took our letters and he will post them to us in 90 days! I loved that idea! You could ask a friend or family member to do the same for you.
Set your course, stay on track and regardless of how long it takes you remember "The Journey Is The Reward"
Read a book on self-development today…
There are really so many to choose from, here are a few that I read over the past 6 months that have helped me to put a new perspective on life…
As well here are some others that are must haves if you haven’t read them already include:
Think and Grow Rich! by Napoleon Hill
The Secret by Rhonda Byrne
Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment By Eckhart Tolle
The Power Of Intention By Wayne W. Dyer
The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People By Stephen Covey.

This is one of my favorite days to connect with people. Often people are in great moods on Friday, but be sure to call 10 of your past clients in the morning, with ski season and holidays still so close; you just may find that the afternoon calls may not be as successful! Today is a GREAT day to fill your calendar for next week! Be sure to ask for a meeting and put it in your calendar... Start next week with a BANG! It is better to connect today for next week, for if you try to connect on Monday, you will probably be pushed back another week!
Thursday January 5th 361 Days – Ask for a Referral – This is easier than it sounds, yet so many of us forget to do it! Today leave a customer call with a phrase like: “Mrs. Customer, it has been great dealing with you and I would love more clients just like you! Would you know anyone off the top of your head that may be looking for a product (service) like mine for their business (personal use)? I will be sure to treat any referral you give me with the most professional service.” Try asking for two today, then put it in your data base to follow up with tomorrow. And don’t forget, if you receive a referral; be sure to follow up with the person that GAVE you the referral to let them know how the new relationship is working out!
Imagine if you asked for a referral every day, you could still get 361 new customers this year! Wow!
”The longer you wait, the harder it is to produce outstanding customer service.”
- William H. Davidow
362 Days- Follow up is about creating relationships, if each day you can change your mind set from “making a sale” to “making a new relationship” then you will see your business grow in leaps and bounds this year. Be sure when you are talking to your clients today, to find out about their families, hobbies and other activities that they enjoy doing. Now RECORD THIS in your Fiitfu account! This will come in handy down the road!
363 Days- Call 10 of your Past clients and 10 clients you are presently working with now. January is a GREAT time to reconnect! Let them know you want to update your records and go through their present client information to confirm it is correct, and ask for their birthdays! Now put that in your data base with a “What’s Next”. Be sure you have a GOOD way of keeping track of clients like www.fiitfu.com
Here is the scoop, yesterday when I wrote about 365 days in a year, I went to bed thinking of all the things we can accomplish in a year, but also how time can trickle through our fingers, and before you know it the year is gone! So I thought to myself, why not give out ideas to keep you moving forward each day and together we can watch the growth of your business. So that is what I am going to do, and not only will Fiitfu offer up tips for each day on Follow Up, Contact Management and Goal Setting, but we will also practice what we preach! Get involved! Tap in and watch things change for you this year! If you did just ONE thing daily to move you in the direction of your dreams, then you are going in the right direction! So our commitment to you... 365 days of tips to help you achieve your goals!
Have an idea, tool or comments you would like to share with us? Simply email firstname.lastname@example.org and we just may post them! So for the day we missed in the year here you go:
364 days – Determine today at least ONE of your business goals, and let the world know (or at least your friends and family). You will be amazed at how many people will come out of the cracks to support you!
365 days… improve your contact management this year.
In a blink of an eye, a year flies by, and as you reflect on the year gone and all that you accomplished, Fiitfu would like to help you focus on the year moving forward and how it can be your best year yet.
Of course at Fiitfu our focus is on effective client contact management and follow up, thus the name Fiitfu (the acronym for “fortune is in the follow up”).
We utilize the terminology customer CONTACT management for Fiitfu for a reason: we are supposed to CONTACT our clients.
When I think of my past data base, I am frustrated by my own foolishness to think that I would remember everyone that I ever put into my “contact list”. Today I have names and contacts in my list which I have no idea who they are, how we met, when we met or what our common denominator was to put them into my data base to begin with…
How hard it is, sometimes, to trust the evidence of one's senses! How reluctantly the mind consents to reality.
~ Norman Douglas
Try to make at least one person happy every day, and then in ten years you may have made three thousand, six hundred and fifty persons happy, or brightened a small town by your contribution to the fund of general enjoyment.
- Sydney Smith
Everyday on our Facebook Page, we are giving you some ideas for effective follow up. Today our post was:
Follow up Tip Of The Day - A friend of mine shared with me the old fashion way of showing appreciation includes baking and gift giving!
